Israel claims that a “counter-terrorism operation” in the occupied West Bank has resulted in the deaths of at least nine Palestinians.

At least four Palestinian cities were targeted simultaneously by the Israeli operation, which started at midnight local time and included Jenin, Tulkarm, Nablus, and Tubas.

At least eleven people had been killed, according to Palestinian officials earlier; Hamas has confirmed that six of its fighters perished in Jenin.

The raids are thought to be the first time multiple Palestinian cities have been targeted at once since the second intifada, a significant uprising in Palestine that lasted from 2000 to 2005.

Meanwhile, the health ministry in Gaza, which is run by Hamas, reports that 58 people have died as a result of Israeli attacks in the last day.
