The government has unveiled a plan to install 1,388 cameras across Greece by 2026 to fight road accidents, which are often caused by traffic violations.
The Conservative government aims to reduce the number of deaths and serious injuries by 50% by 2030. To achieve this, it plans to install 1,388 cameras across the country by 2026, starting with 388 in Attica, the region surrounding Athens, by 2025, focusing on the busiest roads.
“Unfortunately, human resources cannot respond to all criminal behavior on the roads. The solution [to reduce accidents] lies in intelligent policing and the use of new technological tools.
