IDF says Beirut strike targeted Hezbollah’s main headquarters

There are explosions audible in Beirut after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to keep fighting Hezbollah in Lebanon.

The IDF claims that the main headquarters of Hezbollah was the intended target of the Beirut strike.Security sources in Lebanon have told Reuters that the Israeli attack targeted a common area used by senior Hezbollah officials. This was the worst attack to hit Beirut in the almost a year that Israel and Hezbollah have been at war.

Al-Manar television, a channel affiliated with Hezbollah, reports that numerous strikes resulted in the destruction of four buildings and numerous casualties. The attack site has at least one smoldering crater visible in footage from al-Manar TV.

At the UN, Netanyahu told world leaders that Israel “we are winning” and that it would “not rest” until its citizens could return to the north.

Additionally, he forewarned Iran, a country that supports Hezbollah, that “no place in Iran that the long arm of Israel cannot reach.”the Israeli military has claimed it targeted Hezbollah central command in the southern suburbs of Beirut.

Israeli military spokesman Daniel Hagari said in a televised statement that the center was deeply buried in residential areas.

Additionally, Hezbollah-affiliated al Manar TV recently reported on a series of Israeli airstrikes on the capital’s southern suburbs.

A crater can be seen in the strike area in the images they broadcast.

According to international correspondent John Sparks, the Israelis have acknowledged that they have hit targets in Beirut, and this week they have taken credit for the deaths of several Hezbollah leaders.

“It appears that the Israelis can remove their senior officials,” he said.
