ICE agent fatally shoots woman in Minneapolis

A US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent shot and killed a woman in Minneapolis on Wednesday during an immigration crackdown in the state of Minnesota. Local officials said the victim was 37 years old.

Crowds began protesting ICE near the site of the killing.
The Homeland Security Department justified the shooting. It issued a statement saying the woman attempted to kill law enforcement officers with her car, and it described that as an “act of domestic terrorism.”

The Minneapolis mayor said he saw a video of the shooting, and he disputed the federal government’s account.
Jacob Frey said, “What I can tell you is the narrative that this was done in self-defense is a garbage narrative.”

US media report the shooting happened near the site where George Floyd was killed six years ago. He was a Black man who died after a white police officer choked him by kneeling on his neck. His death sparked nationwide protests.
