In the Bavarian town of Straubing, four prisoners escaped from a specialized medical facility after threatening a staff member, according to local police. The breakout occurred shortly after 9 p.m. local time, prompting an immediate search operation.
Authorities have advised residents in the area to exercise caution and avoid picking up hitchhikers while the search is ongoing. The police reported that the four fugitives fled toward Alburg, a district near Lerchenhaid, where the hospital is located.
Straubing, a town of approximately 50,000 people, is situated in Lower Bavaria in southern Germany, along the River Danube, and is not far from the borders of Austria and the Czech Republic.
