Investigators believe the 22-year-old is a “key figure” in a suspected drug trade believed to be behind the series of explosions that have rocked Cologne and other cities in recent months.
The suspect, a 22-year-old man, was arrested on Tuesday at Roissy airport in the French capital.
The Prosecutor of Cologne has started the extradition procedure and is in close contact with the French judicial authorities.
Investigators believe the 22-year-old is a “key figure” in a suspected drug trade believed to be behind the series of explosions that have rocked Cologne and other cities in recent months. The theft of a large amount of cannabis from a warehouse in Hürth is understood to be at the origin of the spiral of violence.
A group that had been cheated by the drug was trying to get cannabis or get compensation, investigators said recently.
According to the prosecution, more than ten people are already in custody in connection with these crimes.
