Germany: 11 injured after ghost train ride catches fire

A ghost train ride named “Zombie” caught fire at the Gallimarkt festival in Leer, Lower Saxony, northwestern Germany, leaving 11 people injured. Emergency services quickly responded, and the flames were extinguished shortly after the incident occurred.

The fire, which broke out during the popular centuries-old folk festival, led to three individuals being hospitalized, while others, including four employees, suffered from smoke inhalation. One person was also reported to be in shock. The Gallimarkt festival, known for its 19 large rides and 250 market stalls, is a major attraction, drawing half a million visitors annually.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire, although no details on the extent of the damage have been released yet. Despite the incident, the festival remains a focal point for tourists and locals alike, with sunny weather contributing to a high turnout on Sunday.
