France and Serbia agree to sell French fighter aircraft for $3 billion.

The sale occurs as European countries attempt to divert Serbia from its long-standing ally and armaments supplier, Moscow.

A $3 billion deal to sell 12 French-built Rafale fighter jets to Serbia was signed by the two nations as European nations attempt to persuade Serbia to sever its close ties to Russia.

In an effort to strengthen relations between the two countries, French President Emmanuel Macron visited Belgrade on Thursday and signed the historic sale with Eric Trappier, CEO of Dassault Aviation.
