
Four individuals, including an 11-year-old girl, were hospitalized following a suspected funfair ride malfunction at the Lambeth Country Show in Brockwell Park, south London. The incident occurred around 18:20 BST, prompting swift response from emergency services.
According to Lambeth Council, the ride area is now secured, and the funfair has been closed. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the malfunction.
The Metropolitan Police in Lambeth, via a statement on X (formerly Twitter), identified the other injured individuals as a man and a woman in their 40s, and a man in his 50s. None of the injuries are life-threatening, and no one was trapped on the ride.
Cordons have been established, and the Health and Safety Executive has been notified. Lambeth Council is conducting additional safety checks on all rides and attractions at the event.
This incident coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Lambeth Country Show, one of the UK’s largest free family festivals. Brockwell Park, a favored green space near Brixton, hosted the event.
The London Ambulance Service deployed four ambulance crews, members of its hazardous area response team, and an air ambulance to the scene. All four injured individuals were transported to major trauma centers.
