At least 40 confirmed deaths, 115 injuries, and numerous serious injuries have been reported since the New Year’s fire at a bar in a Swiss ski resort. Many of the victims are anticipated to be foreign nationals, according to the local police commander.
At a press conference on Thursday morning, local police chief Frederic Gisler revealed the initial death toll from the fire, stating, “We can expect victims of foreign nationalities.”.
Following the fire that tore through the crowded bar in the posh resort town of Crans-Montana on Thursday, Swiss President Guy Parmelin said, “This was one of the worst tragedies our country has experienced.”.
