Explosion hits fertility clinic in Southern California

A large explosion occurred outside a reproductive health facility in Palm Springs in the US state of California on Saturday, injuring at least five people. Authorities suspect that someone set off an explosive device in a vehicle.

The Palm Springs City Government says the blast occurred just before 11 a.m.

Photos posted on social media show rising smoke, shattered windows of the clinic and a nearby store as well as other damage.

A US television network, citing investigative sources, reports at least five people were injured in the incident and that a suspect is believed to be dead.

The head of the fertility clinic revealed in a social media post that a car bomb went off in the parking lot near the American Reproductive Centers building. Investigators from local authorities, the FBI, and other law enforcement agencies are looking into the case as an intentional act.
