Donald Trump has said the Iranian “president” has asked for a ceasefire – but the US won’t “consider” it until the Strait of Hormuz is re-opened.
Posting on Truth Social, the US president described Iran’s leader as “much less Radicalized and far more intelligent” than his predecessors.
The US will ignore the claimed ceasefire request and carry on “blasting Iran into oblivion” until the strait is “open, free and clear”, Trump said.
It is unclear if Trump is referring to Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian, who has been in his role since July 2024, or Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, who succeeded his father in the role last month.
