According to local media reports Constance Marten, an aristocrat, told the Old Bailey that she “feels guilty” about the death of her newborn baby after she and her partner fled, but insisted that she did nothing but show her love.
The 36-year-old and Mark Gordon, 49, are accused of causing baby Victoria’s death after the couple went missing in late December 2022.
The defendants, who previously lived in east London but are now of no fixed address, deny manslaughter by gross negligence, perverting the course of justice, concealing the birth of a child, child cruelty and causing or allowing the death of a child.
The trial continues.
