Blockade has ‘completely halted economic trade’ going in and out of Iran by sea, US military claims –

The US military claims to have “completely halted economic trade” going in and out of Iran by sea.

It says the US blockade of Iranian ports, which came into effect earlier this week, has been “fully implemented” and has ensured US forces “maintain maritime superiority in the Middle East”.
US Central Command earlier said that no ships had passed through the blockade in the first 24 hours of it being in effect.

It added that ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz to and from non-Iranian ports were being supported by US forces.

Donald Trump has previously threatened to “eliminate” Tehran’s fast attack vessels if they come near American warships.
