As deadly tensions in the Middle East rise, US President Joe Biden has acknowledged the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as a “major defense partner,” strengthening military ties despite disagreements over the war in Sudan.
The UAE is only the second nation to receive the designation, with the announcement coming on Monday after a meeting between US President Joe Biden and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan at the White House. India received the designation in 2021 from the Biden administration.
