According to police, the explosion happened at Le Constellation, a well-known tourist destination, at around 1:30 a.m. (0030 UTC/GMT) local time while guests were ringing in the New Year. More than a hundred people were in the bar at the time of the incident, according to a police spokesperson. In the aftermath, police, firefighters, and multiple helicopters were present. At first, the cause of the explosion was described as “unknown.””
