A spokesperson for the Russian activist, who died on Friday, says his mother and lawyer went to the morgue where officials said his body was being kept, but it was not there.
An employee of the colony said Navalny’s body was in Salekhard after it was picked up by investigators from Russia’s investigative committee (IC), said Yarmysh, who has been Navalny’s press secretary since 2014.
In a later statement, Yarmysh said Navalny’s body was not at the Salekhard morgue when his lawyer and his mother arrived on Saturday
On Saturday, the OVD-Info protest monitoring group said 273 people had been detained, including at least 109 in Saint Petersburg and 39 in Moscow, at events on Friday and Saturday.
