A van driver who was caught trying to smuggle migrants was discovered on the ferry to Sussex yelling for aid.

The Home Office has released bodycam footage that shows the small area where seven migrants were concealed.

A van driver was found guilty of smuggling migrants in a concealed compartment, where they were discovered wailing for rescue due to oxygen starvation.

Anas Al Mustafa, 43, was found guilty of aiding illegal immigration on February 16 by smuggling the seven individuals in a van with special accommodations between Dieppe, France, and Newhaven, East Sussex, via a ferry.

A significant emergency services response, including the presence of ambulances, police, and the Border Force, was prompted by the discovery at the port in East Sussex.

The six men and one woman were suffering from oxygen starvation and dehydration in the hidden space, which was “the width of a human chest,” the jury at Lewes Crown Court was informed.
