The family of a British couple detained in Iran has identified them as Craig and Lindsay Foreman, expressing deep concern over the “distressing situation.” The couple, who were on a global motorbiking trip to Australia as part of a positive psychology mission, had shared updates on social media about their journey.
In a post dated December 30, Lindsay Foreman mentioned they were preparing to traverse Iran and Pakistan, acknowledging the risks but emphasizing their belief in the goodness of people worldwide.
Despite warnings from friends, family, and the UK Foreign Office (FCDO), which strongly advises against travel to Iran for British nationals, the couple chose to proceed. Lindsay wrote, “We believe most people are good, kind humans striving for a meaningful life. We’re aware of the risks, but the rewards of meeting incredible people and experiencing breathtaking landscapes could outweigh the fear.”
The Foreman family released a statement expressing their distress and confirmed they are working closely with the UK government to secure Craig and Lindsay’s safe return.
They stated, “This unexpected turn of events has caused significant concern for our entire family. We are deeply focused on ensuring their safety and well-being during this challenging time. We are actively engaging with the British government and relevant authorities to navigate this complex situation.”
The family also expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support from friends, family, and the community, which has provided them with strength and encouragement. They concluded, “Thank you for your understanding, compassion, and continued support.”
