Taylor Swift reportedly gives $197 mln in bonuses to Eras Tour team
US pop singer Taylor Swift has reportedly handed out huge sums of money as bonuses to her team on the Eras Tour, including giving a whopping $500,000 to each of the dancers.
As a new documentary series about the singer’s record-breaking Eras Tour has sparked online debates about the moral implications of wealth accumulation, her fans have found a way to deem her the “only ethical billionaire.”
In an episode released Friday in her new documentary series The End of an Era, Swift is seen sharing a sweet moment with her tour team members, surprising them with bonuses and hand-written messages.
While the exact amount has not been disclosed, the reactions of the team members speak for themselves. One scene shows her production assistant Max Holmes saying he’s going to “pass out” after receiving his bonus and one dancer taking a breath from an inhaler before joining in on a group hug.
Media reports have previously suggested the singer has given out $197 million in bonuses to everyone who worked on the concert, including production staff and assistants, carpenters, dancers, band members, and truck drivers.
In total, Taylor Swift has performed 149 shows in 53 cities across five continents. According to The New York Times, the tour earned over $2 billion in ticket sales, a figure that has been confirmed by her production company.
