Pedestrian killed after being struck by car on major east London road

The fatal crash took place in Ilford, east London yesterday afternoon with paramedics and fire engines in attendance as police were called to Eastern Avenue at around 4.10pm

A pedestrian in her sixties was killed after a car collided with her, other vehicles and a building on a major east London road Illford on Saturday afternoon.
The collision on Eastern Avenue in Ilford at around 4.10pm sparked a major emergency services response, including the London Air Ambulance and the Fire Brigade.
But despite medics’ best efforts, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers said her family are aware and are being supported by specialist officers.
The driver of the car stopped at the scene and was not arrested.
Met detectives from the Roads and Transport Policing Command are leading the investigation and have launched an appeal for information.
They would like to speak with anyone who witnessed what happened or captured it on dash cam or CCTV.
The ten-mile Eastern Avenue is one of the main roads leading out of Ilford London.
