Revealing that the effort was launched at the personal request of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during their White House.
“I viewed it as being just sort of a freelance, no government, no this, no that. And [the Saudi Crown Prince] explained the whole culture and the whole history. And it was very interesting to hear, really amazing actually to hear,” Trump said at the US-Saudi Investment Forum. “We’ve already started working on that,” he added.

Trump said he began working on the Sudan file around 30 minutes after his Oval Office meeting with MBS on Tuesday. “[MBS] said, ‘That would be the greatest thing you can do; that would be greater than what you’ve already done,’” Trump said, recalling comments from the Crown Prince.
“I view [Sudan] differently now than I did just a day ago,” Trump said.
Later on Wednesday, Trump wrote on Truth Social that the US will work with Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt and other Middle Eastern countries to end “atrocities” in Sudan and stabilize the country.
“Tremendous atrocities are taking place in Sudan,” Trump wrote. “It has become the most violent place on Earth and, likewise, the single biggest Humanitarian Crisis. Food, doctors, and everything else are desperately needed.”
