Several suspects have been arrested in relation to the Red Fort bomb attack
Bomb threats were called in to several courthouses in the Indian capital Delhi on Tuesday, Indian media reported.
Court proceedings were suspended for a couple of hours, according to online news portal Mint, while security forces assessed the threat.
Bomb threats were also received by two schools belonging to the armed police units, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
Police said that no threat was found and it was reported to be a hoax. A senior police officer told Mint that the bomb threat caller’s phone was turned off after the call, but tracing attempts were ongoing.
Bomb threat hoax in wake of Red Fort attack
One of the courts targeted by the threat was the Patiala House Court, where a suspect in the recent bomb attack near Delhi’s Red Fort was due for a hearing.
The blast on November 10 killed 15 people and injured dozens more. The perpetrator was reported by police to be a Kashmiri resident.
On Monday, police arrested another Kashmiri resident on suspicion of aiding the attack. This second suspect was due to appear in court on Tuesday.
Extra security had already been deployed around the courthouse.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA), cited by Indian news agency ANI, said that the suspect had “provided technical support for carrying out terror attacks by modifying drones and attempting to make rockets.”
