Videos circulating on social media show an entire building collapsing in the Dahiyeh neighborhood in southern Beirut, as Israel appears to be targeting branches of al-Qard al-Hassan, which it says were used to finance Hezbollah.
The Israeli army warned residents in 24 areas of Lebanon – including 14 in the capital Beirut – that it planned to carry out attacks in the coming hours and throughout the night.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said they are targeting banks and other financial infrastructure that support Hezbollah.
A BBC correspondent in Beirut said there were eight planes in the Dahieh district, south of the capital, an area controlled by Hezbollah.
Lebanese state media also reported a strike in the east of the country. It is not known if there are any victims.
Separately, Hezbollah said it fired more rockets at Israel on Sunday, targeting military bases. In a statement issued Sunday evening, IDF spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari warned that “anyone who is near sites used to finance Hezbollah’s terrorist activities should leave these sites immediately.”
“We hit some targets in the next few hours and other targets in the night,” he said.
Sky NEWS reported that the IAF (Israeli Air Force) carried out an intelligence-led attack against a Hezbollah intelligence command center and an underground weapons workshop in Beirut, the Israeli Air Force said first sunday
“In addition, the IAF… strikes and eliminates terrorist Al-Haj Abbas Salama in the Tebnine region, a senior commander of Hezbollah’s southern front, and terrorists Rada Abbas Awada and Ahmad Ali Hussein.”
The Israeli Air Force said it had taken “numerous measures” to “mitigate the risk of harm to civilians” in both cases.
