Ryan Routh was arrested near Trump’s Florida golf course and is now accused of attempting to kill him.
Previous accusations against Routh included possessing a firearm while incarcerated and having a firearm with its serial number destroyed.
US prosecutors have charged a man who was taken into custody near Donald Trump’s Florida golf course with attempting to kill a presidential candidate.
It happens the day after a court document disclosed that Ryan Wesley Routh had written a note months earlier stating his intention to kill Trump.
The maximum sentence for the two gun-related charges against Routh, 58, is 20 years in prison.
