According to numerous reports, the wide receiver and the San Francisco 49ers reached an agreement on a four-year, $120 million contract extension on Thursday. This put an end to a months-long impasse and increased rumors that the Super Bowl contender might be splitting with one of its biggest stars.
This week, despite Aiyuk’s medical clearance from team personnel, the impasse between the two teams became more urgent.
John Lynch, the general manager, said on Wednesday that “you gotta play at some point.”
With the 49ers’ game against the New York Jets on “Monday Night Football” in just eleven days, their top target is back in the fold.
Aiyuk currently shares sixth position among wide receivers in the NFL in terms of salary, taking home $30 million annually.
