Sydney Metro’s Chatswood to Sydenham Extension Now Open, Slashing Travel Times

Metro

The eagerly awaited Chatswood to Sydenham extension of the Sydney Metro is now operational, with the new underground section welcoming commuters as early as 5 am on Monday. Initially set to open on August 4, the $21.6 billion project funded by the former Liberal government was delayed to ensure all safety checks were completed.

NSW Premier Chris Minns hailed the opening as “a huge change for Sydney and a big step forward,” emphasizing the significance of the infrastructure in transforming the city’s transportation landscape. He also acknowledged the contributions of former Premier Mike Baird, along with Gladys Berejiklian and Dominic Perrottet, in bringing this ambitious project to fruition.

With the new extension in place, Sydney travel times are expected to be significantly reduced, offering commuters a faster and more efficient way to navigate the city.
