Six children and two adults remain in critical condition following a horrific knife attack at a Taylor Swift-themed yoga class in Southport. The attack, which occurred at a family-friendly event on Hart Street around 11:50 am on Monday, resulted in the deaths of two children.

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer is expected to visit Southport on Tuesday, with Chancellor Rachel Reeves describing the mass stabbing as “beyond the worst nightmare of any parent.” Reeves told Sky News, “Nothing can prepare you for something like this. Everybody across our country today is thinking of that community and those families.”

Merseyside Police reported that adults at the event bravely attempted to protect the children, with two of those adults critically injured. The police confirmed that a 17-year-old had been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. A knife was seized at the scene in the seaside town, located about 20 miles north of Liverpool.

The injured were transported to major hospitals, including Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. While the exact ages and genders of the deceased children have not been disclosed, the police continue to investigate the incident.
