Man arrested over horror crash that killed six and left girl orphaned as police hunt Porsche

Police have arrested a man on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving following a crash that killed six people and left an 11-year-old girl orphaned. Authorities are seeking information about a grey Porsche 911 seen in the area

Police investigating a horror crash that claimed six lives and left an 11-year-old girl orphaned have arrested a man and appealed for information on a Porsche.

The collision, involving a car and a motorbike, happened on the rural A61 road near Wakefield, West Yorkshire on Sunday afternoon.

Four members of a family-of-five travelling in a Ford Focus were pronounced dead at the scene. They have been named as parents Shannen Morgan and Shane Roller, and their daughters four-year-old Lillie Morgan-Roller and nine-year-old Rubie. Motorcyclists Christopher and Janine Barton also lost their lives, West Yorkshire Police confirmed that a man had been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He remains in custody.

Detective Sergeant Steven Suggitt said: “I would like to appeal for anyone who may have seen this grey Porsche 911 being driven on the roads around the south of Wakefield or north of Barnsley to please contact us. I would also urge anyone who has dashcam, doorbell or CCTV footage of this car, that may assist our investigation, to please contact us.”

The crash, which happened shortly before 4pm on Sunday, left 30-year-old Shannen and 33-year-old Shane’s eldest daughter Poppie orphaned as stayed with a friend while the family headed out on a walk.
