US President Donald Trump delivered a televised address on Wednesday to speak about the conflict with Iran. He said the US military is “nearing completion” of its strategic objectives and that additional strikes in the next two to three weeks will hit Iran “extremely hard.”
Trump also made the claim that the command structure of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps is on the verge of collapse.
He said: “We are going to bring them back to the stone ages, where they belong. In the meantime, discussions are ongoing. Regime change was not our goal. We never said regime change, but regime change has occurred because of all of their original leaders’ deaths. They’re all dead.”
Iran’s state-run media reported that the commander-in-chief of the army has warned against any potential ground operations. He said if the enemy attempts to carry them out, “not a single person should survive.” A spokesperson for the military warned the US to prepare for “more crushing, broader and more destructive” attacks.
The Israeli military said that, around the time of Trump’s speech, it intercepted four waves of Iranian missiles. Israeli media said four people near Tel Aviv were injured and that cluster munitions may have been used.
The Israeli military announced on Thursday that it had conducted large-scale strikes the day before. The targets included IRGC bases and storage facilities for ballistic missiles in Tehran.
