Iran fires missiles toward Diego Garcia: Report.Iran launched two ballistic missiles toward a joint U.S.-U.K. military base in the Indian Ocean on Friday, according to a Wall Street Journal report.

The strikes did not hit the base on Diego Garcia, a small island in the Chagos Archipelago, officials told the Journal. One missile failed in flight and a U.S. warship reportedly fired an SM-3 interceptor at the second. It’s unclear whether the fired interceptor was responsible for the second missile’s failure.

The attempted attack comes as President Trump criticized the U.K.’s “late” decision to permit the U.S. military to use its bases in the region for strikes against Iran.

U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s office said ministers met on Friday to discuss Iran’s move to block the Strait of Hormuz, as well as Tehran’s targeting of unarmed commercial shipping and civilian infrastructure, including oil and gas facilities.

“They confirmed that the agreement for the US to use UK bases in the collective self-defence of the region includes US defensive operations to degrade the missile sites and capabilities being used to attack ships in the Strait of Hormuz,” the spokesperson continued.
