Earlier this week, The Wall Street Journal reported that Trump has been “gifting footwear to agency heads, lawmakers, White House advisers and VIPs.” The article described Trump as having “fallen in love” with men’s shoewear company Florsheim’s leather oxfords, which typically sell for $145.
Following the reporting, critics mocked photos of Secretary of State Marco Rubio wearing dress shoes that appeared to be too large.
In his interview with Kilmeade, Trump denied that he’s gone gaga over the specific brand, saying of Florsheim, “No, but it’s a nice shoe.”
“It seems to work out pretty well,” Trump said of his focus on footwear. “And now they look all spiffy and nice.”
“I never like Cabinet members walking in in sneakers,” Trump added.
“Sneakers are wonderful, but I don’t want my Cabinet members wearing sneakers,” he told Kilmeade.
“So I’ll get them a pair of shoes. It’s a gift from Donald Trump.”
In 2024, the president introduced Trump Sneakers at Sneaker Con in Philadelphia with two options available: a mid-top that comes in two colors and retails for $199 and a high-top in gold starting at $399.
