The Federal Bureau of Investigation has warned police departments in California that Iran could retaliate for US attacks by launching drones at the West Coast, ABC News reported on Wednesday, citing an alert it reviewed.
“We recently acquired information that as of early February 2026, Iran allegedly aspired to conduct a surprise attack using unmanned aerial vehicles from an unidentified vessel off the coast of the United States Homeland, specifically against unspecified targets in California, in the event that the US conducted strikes against Iran,” the alert shared by ABC News said. The report also mentioned that US officials are growing worried about the use of drones by Mexican cartels on the southern border, and the possibility that they could be used to strike US citizens and forces alongside the border.
