Massive explosions as Israel targets ‘heart’ of Tehran
A massive explosion has hit Tehran, sending a huge plume of smoke into the sky and shaking the ground.
It comes after Israel said it was hitting targets “in the heart of Tehran”.
“Over the past day, the Israeli Air Force conducted large-scale strikes in order to establish aerial superiority and to pave the path to Tehran,” the Israel Defence Forces said.
Having already dropped 1,200 bombs on Iran, the IDF, along with the US Air Force, is close to achieving air supremacy in Iranian airspace.
This shift could mark an increased capability for Israel and the US to help anti-regime protesters by targeting specific regime forces that have been used to oppress and mass murder them for the last two months and during prior rounds of protests in recent decades.
It was unclear what the latest target was but the Associated Press reported the explosion appeared to hit a neighborhood home to the country’s police headquarters and Iranian state television.
Meanwhile,The Israeli military assesses that Iran currently possesses some 2,500 ballistic missiles.
Ahead of June 2025’s war, the IDF said it identified efforts by Iran to significantly accelerate its production rate of ballistic missiles and increase its stockpile from around 3,000 to 8,000 within two years.
During the June war, Iran launched over 500 missiles at Israel, and the military reported destroying hundreds of missiles in strikes and preventing the production of 1,500 additional missiles by targeting manufacturing infrastructure.
