Manchester United beat Arsenal to deal title blow in pulsating Premier League clash:

The Michael Carrick revival continued at the Emirates Stadium as Manchester United stunned Arsenal.

Arsenal 2-3 Manchester United — result
Manchester United dealt Arsenal a blow in the Premier League title race with a 3-2 win at the Emirates Stadium.

Mikel Arteta’s men took the lead just before the half-hour mark as Martin Odegaard’s wayward effort was diverted into the back of the net by Lisandro Martinez, but an error from Martin Zubimendi allowed United back into the match.

Bryan Mbeumo got the equaliser and then Patrick Dorgu stole the show with a thumping strike just after half-time. Arsenal responded with a late equaliser through Mikel Merino, but Michael Carrick’s side left with all three points thanks to Matheus Cunha’s brilliant curling effort.

The result moves United above Liverpool into fifth and leaves Arsenal four points clear of Manchester City and Aston Villa at the top.

After the match Maguire told Sky Sports: “The fans deserve it. It’s been a tough couple of years for them, and results like City [last week] and today are what they deserve.

“I thought the first 20 minutes, Arsenal started really well.

“They put us on the back foot, but we watched their game against Liverpool, and they did the same there.”
