Mitt Romney’s sister-in-law was found dead on Friday evening next to a parking garage in the Town Center area of Santa Clarita, a suburb just north of Los Angeles, according to officials.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department told ABC News it is conducting a death investigation into the death of 64-year-old Carrie Romney of Valencia.

Her cause of death was listed as “deferred” while toxicology tests were pending, the Los Angeles County medical examiner said.

Preliminary information indicated she may have jumped or fallen from the garage, according to sources.
