Ukraine updates: EU’s Kallas says Russia ‘gambling with war’

The EU’s top diplomat has said Russia is in danger of igniting another major conflict after a series of encroachments on NATO and EU airspace. Meanwhile, Russia has targeted the Ukrainian power grid.

Kallas said the EU needs to beef up its defenses and that Russia is in danger of provoking conflict.

EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas has visited Kyiv for her first visit since taking office, discussing military aid, energy security, and a reparations loan using frozen Russian assets.

Kallas praised Ukrainians’ “resilience” and said Europe must keep up support as the country braces for another harsh winter after heavy Russian strikes on its power grid.

She also said Russia was in danger of sparking a war with its encroachments on the airspace of its European neighbors.

Ukraine has been racing to repair damaged energy infrastructure and bolster its air defenses with European support as winter nears.
