There were no reports of fighting in the Gaza Strip between Israel and Hamas as a ceasefire entered its second day on Saturday.

As displaced Palestinians return to their neighborhoods in Gaza, the extent of damage from two years of conflict is becoming clear.

Local media reports quoted Gazan authorities as saying that 85 percent of the major southern city of Khan Younis and its surrounding areas is destroyed.

Authorities said on Saturday that government agencies, police and municipalities carried out missions, including recovering bodies and removing rubble.

They also restored water and sewage lines, and opened streets in various residential neighborhoods.

A call for help has been sent out to the international community to send urgent logistical supplies. They say this can be achieved by lifting the blockade and opening all crossings immediately without political restrictions.

Meanwhile, no new developments have been reported regarding the release of Israeli hostages which was expected to be carried out by Hamas within 72 hours of the ceasefire’s start. The issue is said to be of great concern to people in Israel.
