Trump vows ‘very strong action’ if Iran hangs protesters Donald Trump has doubled down on his strong rhetoric over Iran this evening.

In an interview with CBS News, the US president has vowed to take “very strong action” if Iran hangs protesters.

It comes as the Hengaw human rights group reported that a 26-year-old protester is due to be executed in Iran tomorrow (see 12.50 post).

The Norway-based group said Erfan Soltani, from Fardis, was arrested during protests in his city.

In a statement released yesterday, it added that he is “facing the imminent execution of a death sentence following a rapid and opaque judicial process.”

Protester due to be executed tomorrow, human rights group warns
According to the Hengaw human rights group, a 26-year-old protester is due to be executed in Iran tomorrow.

The Norway-based group says Erfan Soltani, from Fardis, was arrested during protests in his city.

In a statement released yesterday, it adds that he is “facing the imminent execution of a death sentence following a rapid and opaque judicial process.”

Hengaw says that while Soltani’s family has been informed about the coming execution, they have been “deliberately kept uninformed” about the judicial process.

The claims from the human rights group reflect an apparent rapid turnaround the regime is pushing for in legal punishment for protesters.
