The stabbing spree sparked the UK’s most violent riots in a decade. in the northern English city of Liverpool has heard a teenager plead guilty to charges of murdering three young girls in a knife attack that shocked Britain.
The 18-year-old Axel Rudakubana also pleaded guilty to 10 charges of attempted murder in the attack as well as producing the deadly poison ricin.
The defendant unexpectedly changed his pleas from not guilty to guilty on the first day of his trial at Liverpool. He refused to stand or confirm his name but then pleaded guilty to the murders of Alice da Silva Aguiar, nine, Bebe King, six, and Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven.
He also admitted 10 counts of attempted murder and possession of a kitchen knife over the attack in the Merseyside town on 29 July.
