Hours after being hit by a terrorist attack, Turkey announced that it had launched attacks against Kurdish targets in Iraq and Syria. The attacks came shortly after Ankara accused the militant group of being responsible for a terrorist attack that killed five people at the campus of the Turkish Aerospace Industry.
Turkey’s Defense Ministry said in a statement that the country’s air force hit 32 targets linked to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK). It is worth noting that the Turkish separatist group has fought a decades-long insurgency in Türkiye. The attack came after Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said it was “highly likely” that the PKK carried out the attack.
