Hurricane Oscar touched down in Cuba on Sunday evening as the country continues to face a power outage.

Forecasters said 13 to 25 cm of rain was expected in eastern Cuba until Tuesday, with up to 38 cm in some areas.

Hurricane Oscar slammed into the southeastern Bahamas early Sunday, according to the US National Hurricane Center (NHC).

The NHC said the center of the storm reached Cuba’s Guantanamo province, near the city of Baracoa, on Sunday evening. Its maximum sustained wind was close to 130 km/h.
