Attorneys for the 60 women said on Friday that they have now come forward to report that former Harrods owner Mohamed Al-Fayed sexually assaulted them.
Women’s allegations that Fayed, who passed away last year at the age of 94, sexually assaulted and raped them during his ownership of the upscale department store were featured in a BBC documentary last week.
The accusations make the Egyptian billionaire the latest high-profile figure to join a list of rich and powerful men, such as Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, disgraced by sexual abuse allegations.
“The response has simply been enormous,” the lawyers said in a statement.
“We can confirm that, as part of our claim, we currently represent sixty survivors, and we plan to add more.”
