The Canadian government announces a more comprehensive plan to hold the Iranian regime responsible

Authorities extend the list of Iranian officials prohibited from entering Canada. The Canadian government is adding Iranian officials to its list of nationals who are not allowed entry.

Several senior Iranian officials were initially prohibited from entering Canada by measures introduced by Ottawa in November 2022 under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA).

Beginning in November 2019, senior Iranian government officials were subject to those sanctions. However, on Sunday, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) declared that it was rescheduling the date to June 23, 2003.

“This amended date reflects the day when the Iranian regime arbitrarily detained, and subsequently tortured and killed Iranian-Canadian photo-journalist Zahra Kazemi while in custody,” reads a press release from the CBSA.
