According to emergency services, the heavy rain that swept across central and eastern Europe caused floods in Romania that claimed the lives of four people.
On Saturday, the highest flood alert was issued in 38 locations across the Czech Republic.Prague’s flood barriers have been raised, the zoo has closed, and public access to the embankments has been limited, according to Czech officials.
The citizens of Poland are also starting to be evacuated because of dangerously high river levels.
The four deceased people were found in the Galati area of southeast Romania during a search and rescue operation, according to information provided by emergency services to the AFP news agency.
“Dozens of people were rescued from their homes in 19 different areas throughout the nation,” the statement read.
