Over 230,000 people were forced to leave their homes in Myanmar as a result of the severe flooding that followed Typhoon Yagi, according to officials.
State-run media reports claim that the country’s ruling junta has requested help from abroad to mitigate the effects. Naypyidaw, the capital, is one of the worst hit areas.
As a consequence of the floods, 33 people have lost their lives, the country’s military reports. The state-run daily New Light of Myanmar reports that victims who have been left homeless can currently reside in certain temporary relief camps.
The strongest storm to hit Asia this year, Typhoon Yagi, has already wreaked havoc on the Chinese island of Hainan, Vietnam, and the Philippines.
