A retrial in the historic case of disgraced former movie mogul Harvey Weinstein is scheduled for this coming Thursday, according to Manhattan prosecutors, who also announced that Weinstein has been indicted on new counts of sex crimes in New York.
Until Weinstein is arraigned on the new charges, which are tentatively scheduled for September 18, the indictment will remain under seal. In court, Nicole Blumberg, the assistant district attorney, reveals that the indictment accuses “Mr. Weinstein with additional crimes” and that several accusers are willing to testify against him.
Weinstein, 72, will not be present at Thursday’s hearing as he is recuperating from an emergency cardiac procedure performed on Monday at a Manhattan hospital to remove fluid from his heart and lungs.
