Premier Michel Barnier of France will form a government “next week.”

Next week” will see the formation of a government by French Premier Michel Barnier.
In the midst of a contentious political environment, France’s newly appointed right-wing prime minister, a former minister and the EU’s chief Brexit negotiator, has promised to “listen to everybody” when forming a government. As he canvasses potential candidates to lead ministries in the face of an unpredictable hung parliament, newly appointed conservative Prime Minister Michel Barnier declared on Wednesday, September 11, that France will have a new government “next week.”

In the eastern city of Reims, Barnier told reporters, “We are going to do things methodically and seriously.” He also said he was “listening to everybody” in a political scene that has been divided into three main camps since July’s unresolved snap parliamentary election. He declared, “Next week, we are going to name a government.”
The far-right Rassemblement National (RN), the left-wing NFP alliance, and Macron’s centrist supporters, who are currently loosely allied with Barnier’s rump conservative party, make up the majority of the chamber.
