A report claimed that 39 extrajudicial deaths in Afghanistan were allegedly caused by Australian troops, leading to the revocation of medals for a “small number” of military commanders.

Marles informed parliament this morning that “the allegations which are the subject of the Brereton Report are arguably the most serious allegations of Australian war crimes in our history.”
