As a Category 1 hurricane approaches Louisiana, Francine moves inland.

According to the National Hurricane Center, Hurricane Francine quickly strengthened into a Category 2 storm before making landfall along the southern Louisiana coast. As it moves inland, the center is now a Category 1.
Four to eight inches of rain are predicted, and airlines have canceled all flights out of Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport, resulting in a flash flood warning for New Orleans and the surrounding areas. Over 100,000 people have reported power outages in Louisiana thus far.Francine will continue to pose a threat to a large portion of the South as it moves inland through Louisiana and Mississippi, bringing with it damaging winds, tornadoes, and dangerous storm surges.

Before making landfall as a Category 2 hurricane in Terrebonne Parish, about 30 miles south-southwest of Morgan City, on Wednesday, the hurricane quickly strengthened.
